We are a volunteer organization and require a commitment from each participating family. Thank you for giving your time and energy to make our team enjoyable and memorable for our swimmers. Volunteer sign-ups are available in mid-May.


Volunteer Guidelines:

* All families on the regular team must earn three volunteer credits during the season. 

* Speedy families are asked to serve as a timer for one meet.

* Families are responsible for finding replacements when they are unable to work their meets.

* Volunteering for champs is an additional requirement if your swimmer qualifies for this meet.

Volunteer Descriptions

The below volunteer descriptions apply to regular team meets.

Home and Away Meets

TimerServes as timer for half of a meet using a stopwatch or timer device. Parents with younger swimmers often choose to time during the first half since younger swimmers generally finish earlier. First shift arrives at 5:30. Shift change after event #32. Both shifts must check-in and attend timer meeting prior to meet.

Child Gatherer – Gathers swimmers in the appropriate heat/lane order and escorts to the Clerk of Course. Swimmers are required to sit with their team & age group during the meet so Child Gatherers can easily locate them. Arrives at 5:30 and serves for entire meet.

Clerk of Course – Manages fast-paced clerk of course area behind starting blocks. Receives 12 & under swimmers from Child Gatherers. Ensures all swimmers are lined up in correct heats and lanes. Coordinates efforts with opposing team to ensure all swimmers are lined up correctly. Arrives at 5:30 and serves for entire meet. Clerk of Course earns 1.5 volunteer credits per meet.

Stroke and Turn JudgeJudges the legality of each stroke per league guidelines. Submits disqualification forms to head official. Required to attend online training. Certification valid for two years. Arrives at 5:30 and serves for entire meet. Stroke and Turn Judge earns 1.5 volunteer credits per meet.

Home Meets Only

Set-UpMoves pool furniture. Sets up pool area, concessions, clubhouse, and starter system. Hangs age group signs in designated areas. Serves from 4:15 - 6:00.

Parking Lot Attendant – Arrives to meet at 4:15 to place orange cones and No Parking signs in designated areas. Directs traffic flow and parking to surrounding streets until the start of meet. Serves from 4:15 - 6:00.

Starter – Responsible for the start of each race. Welcomes visiting team and makes announcements during the meet. Should be comfortable speaking on PA system. Arrives at 5:30 and serves for entire meet.

Starter Assistant – Assists starter with advancing heats on the computer system and tracking events and heat numbers. Arrives at 5:30 and serves for entire meet. 

Computer Helper – Assists with our team computer during home meets. Ensures times are properly feeding results. Validates race times, DQs, changes etc. Arrives at 5:30 and serves for entire meet.

Runner – Assists with requests/communications from computer workers, timers, and judges. Ensures volunteers receive waters during their shifts. Monitors bathrooms. Arrives at 5:30 and serves for entire meet.

Ribbon LabelerPrints and applies result stickers to ribbons for all races on the morning following meet.

Heat RibbonsDistributes ribbons to heat winners of all 10 & under individual races. Sometimes requires use of best judgment when events are moving quickly. Arrives at 5:30 and serves for entire meet.

Concessions – Sells concession items during meet. First half volunteers serve 5:00 - 7:30, assisting with set-up. Second half volunteers serve 7:30 - 10:00, assisting with breakdown and clean-up after the meet.

Clean-Up Serves from approximately 9:15 - 10:15pm. Assists with necessary clean-up, including areas outside of pool fence.
